This year marks the 100th birthday of the legendary Verner Panton, and as one of the most influential and daring voices in Danish design his achievements are, as you might expect, being celebrated in style.
Always a challenger of convention, as well as a champion for experimentation and optimism, his furniture, lighting and textiles remain as influential as ever. So, to coincide with the centenary, and in partnership with Verner Panton Design AG, the family-run company dedicated to overseeing, safeguarding and further developing his ideas; several leading names have released anniversary editions, and believe me you won’t want to miss them.

One of the first products to enter the &Tradition portfolio back in 2010, Verner Panton’s playful yet minimal Flowerpot lamp has since become synonymous with the brand. I can’t deny I adore it, and have two portables and a table lamp already, but with a Steel Blue, soft Ivory and vibrant Zesty Orange option now added to the entire series, I may need another.
Taken from Panton’s original colour palette, these new tones capture the spirit of the sixties perfectly. At the time the Flowerpot pushed lighting to its limits, but for Panton this design also embodied his heartfelt belief that a curiosity of colour can lead to more meaningful creative expression.

When it comes to Fritz Hansen, they’ve marked this major milestone by revisiting a collaboration they undertook with Verner Panton in the early 1970s. Created in 1972 to celebrate their own 100th anniversary, and following his apprenticeship working for Arne Jacobsen, the historic design brand invited the designer to reinterpret their classic Series 7 chair through colour.
Referencing a chart of hues, he produced at the time, and reflecting Panton’s deep fascination with the sensory and psychological power of colour, the new ‘Series 7™ – Verner Panton 100’ collection is available in four warm and unmistakable tones: Yellow, Orange, Red and Brown. On sale exclusively throughout 2026 they are destined to become much sought-after collector’s pieces.

After being out of production for decades, legendary lighting manufacturer Louis Poulsen have brought out their two Panthella portable lamps, the 160 and 250 in Panton’s initial colours. First designed in 1971, this standout design, with its timeless expression and much-loved mushroom-like silhouette is sure to make itself instantly at home on a windowsill, bookshelf or coffee table.
Coming with an Opal Orange, Red, Brown, Green and Grey acrylic shade, which then sits on top of a beautiful high luster chrome base, both elements serve as reflectors, ensuring the illumination produced is non-glaring and addictively atmospheric.

The relationship formed between Verner Panton and renowned Swiss furniture makers Vitra was so strong that the designer relocated to Basel in the early 1960s. With his wife Marianne still living there and now working in close collaboration with their daughter Carin Panton von Halem, several re-editions of his most loved chairs have been launched this week.
With an anniversary edition of my own personal favourite, the Heart Cone Chair available in a beautiful duo-tone blue included, and with a comprehensive retrospective, ‘Verner Panton: Form, Colour, Space’, opening in May at the Vitra Design Museum in Weil am Rhein, Germany this life-long relationship looks set to continue.
