Every home should tell a story; your story. It should reflect where you’ve been, how you live now and where you dream of being in the future.
This is exactly what the home of Kasia Rutkowiak, also know as My Full House does in spades. Originally from Gdańsk, Kasia spent most of her adult life living in Denmark before bringing her distinctive Scandinavian sense of style to her Polish family apartment in Warsaw.
I recently chatted with Kasia to find out more about her journey:
“My three children and I moved back to my native Poland from Denmark in 2014 after twelve cherished years living on the island of Bornholm, where I worked as a vet. It was also during this time that I fell completely in love with the Danish lifestyle as well as their interiors.
When we relocated to Warsaw, we chose our apartment not because it had a Scandinavian feel; far from it. But primarily due to its close proximity to the school our children would be attending. It was as I began to make our new house a home that I also started working as a freelance photographer and blogger.
We rent our apartment so we are very limited to the structural changes we can make; but that being said we are planning to change the dark internal doors, which I truly dislike, to white ones soon. We have also just refreshed the kids’ rooms and within the next six weeks or so our living room will get an exciting new look as well.
For now, our bedroom is my favourite part of our home. We spent a long-time last year transforming it and I adore the new white and beige colour scheme. The by Lassen night tables and Nuura lamps not only look fantastic but keep me and my husband organised too. On a warm day with the window open there is nowhere else I’d rather escape to with a good book.
While this may not be our forever home just yet, this apartment will always hold so many cherished family memories that will be dear to me forever.”
