With open house events held in both Copenhagen and London this week to celebrate the launch of their latest collection, &Tradition feels like the perfect place to start my autumn 2024 coverage.
Regular readers will of course know just how much I loved seeing these pieces for myself at 3 Days of Design, and while I’ve already shared details of their classic re-issues from British designer Robin Day, I wanted to highlight some further favourites I know you will adore just as much as me.
First up is the new corner sofa and chaise lounge modules to complete Anderssen & Voll’s ‘Inland’ series. I’m a huge fan of this Oslo based partnership, and with its clean mid-century looking lines and subtle curves, as well as its deep seats and polished aluminium legs, there’s a real Italian flair to this Scandinavian sofa. Available in a range of upholstery options, from classic leather and contemporary linen to warm and welcoming wool, they will look incredible as standalone pieces in your home or as part of a broader cohesive furniture family.
Speaking of furniture another new piece that was getting a LOT of love back in June was Jaime Hayon’s new ‘Archivo’ shelving. Originally made as part of a personal project for the Spanish designer’s own private home, the soft but sturdy design, with its playful and irregularly sized shelves, comes in three sizes and three finishes: ‘Sky Blue’, ‘Black Grey’ and a traditional oak.
Meanwhile when it comes to lighting, a personal &Tradition favourite of mine is always Verner Panton’s ‘Flowerpot’ lamp, I have three of them in my home after all, but what I am super excited about is that for autumn 2024 its available for the first time as a fantastic looking floor lamp.
Developed from original drawings and prototypes created by Verner Panton, and produced in close collaboration with the designer’s family, the new floor lamp suspends the original shade’s form from a slim brushed stainless steel or chrome plated arm. Available in ‘Matt Black’, ‘Chrome’, ‘Grey Beige’ and ‘Cobalt Blue’, I’m not sure I’m going to be able to resist one.
If one new lamp wasn’t enough for my wish list, I’ve also not been able to stop thinking about Hvidt & Mølgaard’s ‘Tripod Wall Lamp’ either. An adaptation inspired by sketches of their original lamp from 1953, this elegant new design is crafted from lacquered aluminium, anchored by a spherical base and has a swivel joint so the light emitted can be directed to suit its position and its purpose.
Finally, if it’s a simpler, smaller update you’re looking for this season then you won’t go wrong with the new fringed ‘Moor Rug’ by Copenhagen’s very own, All the Way to Paris. Inspired by the Scandinavian countryside, which is reflected perfectly in the names of the colourways available, ‘Golden Brown’, ‘Red Heather’, ‘Green Pine’, ‘Beige Dew’, and ‘Blue-Grey Thunder’, rather than cutting off the excess warp yarns, they have been tied into small knots, creating a more relaxed style edge.
