With hundreds of incredible launches, events and exhibitions taking place in Copenhagen last week as part of 3daysofdesign; it’s safe to say I have a lot of new Nordic discoveries to share with you right now. But, for today I’m focusing on just one of my favourites, Kristina Dam Studio.
Exclusively for the Danish capital’s annual creative festival, Kristina Dam Studio showcased their unique artworks and sculptures, furniture, lighting, and accessories in the home of none other than DANSK magazine Creative Director and fashion connoisseur Kim Grenaa, owner of Grenaa Creative and Grenaa Creative Living.
Kim’s modern city centre apartment, which he shares with his dwarf poodle Hjalmer, is in an historic factory building and provided the perfect backdrop for this leading design brand’s latest releases, and a must-visit place to celebrate their tenth anniversary in style.
Framed beautifully by the wooden floors and floor-to-ceiling windows, Kristina Dam Studio displayed a number of pieces that will be released this autumn. Luckily for me, I had had the opportunity to see the same new additions for myself at a London showcase event just the week before.
The focus then, as here, was on the ‘Outline Desk,’ with its sleek steel frame and classic yet contemporary solid oak tabletop and drawers. While other favourites of mine included the calm and clean ‘Oru Loom Rugs,’ inspired by traditional Japanese Tatami mats and woven from wool and jute as well as the beautiful ‘Arch Series’ of ultra-soft cushions and blankets which are sure to look incredible on any sofa, bed, or armchair.
With Brand and Design Director Kristina Dam herself speaking over the three days about ‘longevity in design vs trendiness’, we can be sure that over the next ten years the bold, clean, and honest designs we love from this Danish brand are sure to continue.
