For my first home tour of the year we are heading to my favourite district of Berlin, Prenzlauer Berg to catch up with blogger, photographer and stylist, Claudia Böttcher, or as her followers know her, doitbutdoitnow.
Like me, Claudi loves paired back interiors, houseplants, and cats. Speaking of which she lives with her beloved cat, Tiger and boyfriend, Başar.
Over to Claudi to tell us more:
“It was 2012 when I moved to Berlin, but two years ago when my boyfriend and I moved into our dream rental apartment together. Even though it looks like a very typical Berlin home, places like this are not easy to find, and it took a lot of searching, especially when you have quite a few things on your wish list.
I really wanted to have a balcony, wooden floors, high ceilings and a guest bathroom, and all in an area that we were already living in, which made it even more complicated. But when we found this place, I knew it was the new home for us as it had everything I was hoping for and more.
I really love our living room because of the old double winged door, the old stucco and thanks to the two windows its always filled with light. Thanks to original features such as these, the old DDR shelf and plant holder from my parent’s home fit in perfectly. We also have lots of chairs, more then we need, but it’s really hard for me to let go of them.
Luckily the apartment had been recently renovated so we could just move in. The only thing we had to adjust was our kitchen, we needed a new arrangement for the sink, so I built it myself. Other than painting the guest bathroom, we really didn’t need to change much, but I really want to add more colour to the walls over the next twelve months.
For me, home is where my cat and coffee machine is, they are the two things I miss the most when traveling. Home is where I can sleep best, where I rest and where I really feel safe.”
