I know, I know, it’s been far too long since I shared a home tour, but I’m sure you will agree that this one has been well worth waiting for.
I’ve been a huge fan of influencer and blogger Jesper Klintdrup for years, or simply ‘klintdrup’ as he’s known to his 40k Instagram followers, so I was thrilled when he agreed to catch up with me recently to tell me more about the incredible home and beautiful garden, he shares with his husband Thomas in the city of Viborg, in central Jutland, Denmark.
Over to Jesper to tell us more:
“We had been dreaming of building our own home together for many years and like any would-be self-builders had spent many hours browsing Instagram and Pinterest looking for inspiration, as well as constantly driving around looking at houses in the local area we loved.
Finally, six years ago, we were able to make our dreams a reality. From the outset we were very involved as we had such a clear vision, even taking part in the drawing process, which was really exciting.
It also meant we had the chance to make the house exactly the way we wanted it to be. While it was a very tough process, because there are so many decisions and questions all the time, we are so happy with the end result.
With its Nordic minimalistic look and mix of natural materials, the home we have created is everything I had hoped for and more. I especially love our open plan kitchen and dining area with its Poul Kjærholm PK54 table.
Even though this piece is now almost fifteen years old, the raw steel and delicate marble still make it a personal favourite, and we have enjoyed so many lovely hours with friends and family around it.
We have also felt extremely lucky to have so much outdoor space to enjoy, especially over this last year. We spend so many summer evenings outdoors, and to me there has to be a clear link between the style you have inside and outside. The two spaces need to connect. We are now planning a new wooden terrace with even more plants and flowers.
For me, home is where I can relax. It is my base. I like to be around nice things, and it also needs to be a cosy place, where we can relax and just be ourselves.”
