The August Bank Holiday, the last weekend of summer, and why I usually spend these much-needed three days exploring new and exciting places.
For me there is nothing more exciting than going on holiday. I love leaving the stresses of daily life behind and heading off to explore new places. There is however one part of preparing to travel that sends me into total panic every time: packing.
Just like my hometown of Liverpool, Aarhus (Denmark’s ‘second city’) has in recent years become a rather popular tourist destination thanks to being awarded European Capital of Culture status.
It’s certainly a place I’ve wanted to visit for a long time now, so when my husband and I were recently planning our Danish road trip it seemed the perfect place to start.
Last week my family and I returned to Denmark for our summer holiday. On this occasion however we decided to do things a little differently, and visited three locations over the seven days.
We began our trip with a few days in the country’s second largest city, Aarhus, before heading to Billund and finally on to the capital, Copenhagen.
With our Danish road trip just a matter of days away, excitement levels in the Nordic Notes household are reaching fever pitch.
By the end of the week, my family and I will be exploring the picturesque city of Århus for the very first time, before heading to Billund for all things Lego, and finally Copenhagen for a few days of fun filled excitement in the capital.
