If there’s one thing I hope this year has taught all of us, it’s that together we can get through anything.
While it may not have been physically possible recently to get those I love and care about together, I’ve once again turned to the Nordic region for some much-needed everyday inspiration.
So, over these past few months I’ve been enjoying virtual fika with colleagues, sharing Facetime ‘Fredagsmys’ or ‘Friday cosiness’ with my parents, and regrettably, introduced my four-year-old to the concept of ‘Lordagsgodis’, that’s Saturday sweets.
It is recalling, as well as creating, the lifelong memories that accompany deep-rooted Scandinavian family traditions such as these, that is also at the heart of Danish interior brand OYOY Living Design.
A distinctive Nordic feel
Founded in January 2012 by designer Lotte Fynboe, I first discovered OYOY while on my babymoon to Copenhagen back in 2015. Safe to say, thanks to OYOY’s playful shapes and modern designs the new nursery I created back home in Liverpool went on to have a distinctive Nordic feel.
Since then the OYOY MINI collection has been accompanied by OYOY LIVING. The distinctive furniture, textiles and home accessories are both beautiful and elegant as well as super functional and durable, which again proves to be rather invaluable when you are sharing your home with an energetic and messy small person.
The latest Scandinavian interior trends
With their 2020 collections, like many Nordic design brands, OYOY have so many amazing pieces which reference the latest Scandinavian interior trends.
My favourites include the ‘Inka’ tableware: decorative bowls, jugs and cups in a unique, rounded style, which are available in THE new neutral, as well as dramatic tones of rose pink and rich caramel.
The ‘Sporta’ bamboo baskets for essential extra storage, the striking ‘Kika’ wall hanging rug, as well as the ‘Toppu’ tray with its bold graphic stripes, add drama to any kitchen, dining room or bedroom.
What every OYOY product does though is bring feelings of fun, comfort and togetherness to your home, which in the toughest of times, will always be remembered fondly.

OYOY kindly gifted the products featured in this post, but all words and opinions are my own.
