It’s back to the capital for this week’s post, but once again with a Nordic twist, as I take you on a virtual tour of the new Ferm Living London showroom.
Launched to coincide with this year’s inaugural design festival and located in the heart of the city’s design district on Clerkenwell Road, this must-visit destination is the Danish brand’s first dedicated space in the UK.
Open initially for 12 months, as you might expect from Ferm Living, the showroom has an inviting and homely feel, perfectly capturing the same cosy and calm atmosphere as their boutique in Copenhagen. But, given that I won’t be revisiting there for a few months yet, until then this new premises provides the ideal opportunity to see and feel their latest launches a little closer to home.
Speaking of which, for their Autumn Winter 2024 collection Ferm Living draws inspiration from our time spent indoors, with every piece designed to impart an essence of ‘apricity’, meaning ‘the warmth of the sun in winter.’
From large, statement-making furniture and lighting, to carefully crafted accessories and objects you can hold in the palm of your hand, thanks to their refined use of wood, natural stone and tactile textures, whichever Ferm Living piece you choose it will transform your home into a place of refuge and relaxation as the darker nights draw in.
With far too many exciting new products to talk about, be sure to take a look for yourself at the ‘Taula’ series of coffee and side tables named after the iconic megalithic structures of the Baeleric Islands all made from a beautiful array of coloured marble; the ‘Oval Dorm’ display shelf, crafted form solid oak and oak veneer and complete with a decorative leather strap and oak hook, plus the hide-everything-away-in-an-instant ‘Stilt Sideboard’.
Lighting wise the already much-loved ‘Vuelta Lamp’ is now available in a handy portable format, and the ‘Kurbis’ series, with their uniquely shaped rice paper shades will transform any tired reading nook into a tranquil retreat.
Finally, when it comes to those smaller finishing touches, you can be sure the rugged ‘Koa’ vases and the striking ‘Mist’ boxes and trays, all made from a form of resin blend, will be the go-to accessories of the season, and I may already have my eye on the ‘sea kelp’ colourway for my own bedside table.
