There was only ever one Nordic design brand I was going to start my roundup of the AW22 season with and that’s Northern.
Not only is this leading Norwegian name one of my personal favourites, you only need to look around my own home to see that, it’s also one I have the total honour of writing for too.
It was back in June that I was lucky enough to be sent a first glimpse of the exciting new pieces that have launched this week, and boy have I been wanting to share more about them with you ever since.
Titled ‘Reconnect’, the whole AW22 collection is thoughtful and intuitive. With many of us now needing our homes to be a workspace, entertainment space as well as a living space, Founder and CEO Ove Rogne, along with the growing number of forward-thinking designers Northern collaborates with, have ensured every product is packed with personality and purpose.
From multi-functional furniture and lighting to a growing range of beautiful home accessories, with these new additions you can create a personal space not just to live in, but to thrive in.
For me, favourites include the striking Gem Sofa, designed by the award-winning Meike Harde, with its deep seat and wide backrest, I could very easily see myself cosily curled up on one with a good book this winter.
I’ve also got my eye on a Loud Sideboard from Stockholm based design studio Färg & Blanche. Available in a light oak, smoked oak, or a black painted finish, this softly curved cabinet, with its bronze glass shelves, would fit perfectly in my dinning room.
Lighting wise the Tradition Pendant Lamp from Morten & Jonas has completely stolen my heart. Coming in ‘Small’, ‘Tall’ and ‘Large Oval’ sizes, these finely knitted shades will look amazing hung singularly over a bed, dining table or sofa, as well as clustered together for added wow factor even when turned off.
I also think the Salto Lamp will be hugely popular. I love how Oslo based designer Gridy has looped the vertical and horizontal planes into one seamless movement.
Meanwhile over in accessories, I was delighted to see the Granny Candle Holder by Rudi Wulff available in striking new sizes. And my dressing table is crying out for Ayla Gürsoy’s Observe Tray in its rich smoked finish to display my most treasured everyday essentials.
