No matter what your age, what your interests or what your taste in interior design may be, the city of Paris is always a place to find inspiration. For Swedish artist Sofia Lind, her many memories of living in the bustling French capital have now gone on to inspire her latest series of prints.
Produced in collaboration with Copenhagen-based art store The Poster Club, the four new pictures are the first in an ongoing series of ‘Feature Collections’ for the online retailer; with carefully selected, upcoming and established Scandinavian artists, chosen to creatively tell their own visual stories through sets of exclusive artworks.
Like all Sofia’s recognisable and expressive portraits, The Paris Metro Collection oozes with the feeling of lagom; with their simple compositions, visible brush strokes and perfectly positioned visual pauses.
As the collection title suggests, the four giclée prints, which come on a 265g natural art paper with a matt, uncoated finish, and lightly textured surface, have taken four Paris metro stations as their starting point. Like most Parisiennes, Sofia commuted through them daily, and has now transformed the stations’ vibrant colours and rich atmospheres into beautiful works of art.
In ‘Waiting at Art et Métiers’ the checked motif of the dress pays tribute to the station’s copper walls and ceilings. Meanwhile, ‘Blue Stripe at Concorde’, echoes the distinct blue tiles that repeat along the tunnels, and ‘Coffee Alone at Place de Clichy’, references the eye-catching deep green tiles found around the busy station.
No matter which of these Sofia Lind prints you choose, whether hung alone or as part of a gallery wall, The Paris Metro Collection will certainly enhance your home and your experience within it.
