The Spoke Sofa from TAKT

Today marks the start of Denmark’s annual design event 3 Days of Design. Taking place across Copenhagen, and welcoming guests from around the world, this incredible festival showcases the most inspirational and innovative furniture, lighting and home accessories, and celebrates the creative minds and makers behind them.

As you might expect I’ll be sharing more of my favourite moments over the coming weeks. But I wanted to start with a new piece from a Danish furniture company I very much admire, both for their designs but also their ethos, TAKT.

Three years in the making and born from a desire to bring sustainable thinking to this historically wasteful furniture category, the Spoke Sofa is sure to capture many headlines this week along with the hearts of design lovers.

Developed in collaboration with the acclaimed Norwegian studio Anderssen & Voll, and rooted in circular principles; this affordable, flat-pack alternative sees the traditional typology of a three-seater sofa pared back to its first principles.

As you would expect from a B-Corp accredited brand that is ranked in the top 5% of ‘Best for the World’ businesses, every detail of the Spoke Sofa has been carefully considered; from what it looks like, how it will perform, through to (and most importantly) what impact its production will have on the planet.

Whether that’s the striking wooden frame, available in either an FSC-certified and EU-grown beech or oak, its movable armrests and cushions made from recyclable foam, through to its two eco-friendly and fully washable upholstery options, which come in five subtle and captivating colours.

Whichever they finally choose upon, if that wasn’t enough, TAKT customers can also be assured that at the end of their Spoke Sofa’s natural life, every element has also been designed to be renewed, recycled, or replaced.

There’s just one thing I don’t like about it though, and that’s my living room isn’t big enough to fit one in, so please TAKT can we have a two-seater option soon?
