With the spring equinox on Monday, and clocks in the UK going forward this weekend, my thoughts have naturally shifted from indoors to outside.
Thankfully for anyone with green fingers, as well as a passion for Scandinavian design, Menu have recently launched their ‘Garden Collection’, a beautiful and useful range of accessories plant lovers everywhere will adore.
Covering plant care, plant pots and even plant propagation, every product has been designed to provide maximum function with minimum fuss. So here’s more about some of my favourites:
Plant Care
Made exclusively in collaboration with the renowned Spanish toolmakers, Pallarès, the ‘Pallarès x MENU Garden Tools’ series comprises of five essential hand tools. Hand forged from carbon steel for exceptional strength and sharpness, the lightweight and rust resistant trowel, fork, hoe, shears and pruners also feature beechwood handles for ease of grip and vegetable-tanned leather straps for safety.
Meanwhile the ‘Hydrous Collection’ is a pretty and practical range to help keep your plants happy and healthy. There are earthenware watering sticks, that slowly release water directly into the roots, a sleek and elegant brushed steel watering can and plant mister, as well as glazed stoneware self-watering plant pots available in two sizes and two gorgeous colourways.
Plant Pots
Taking its inspiration from ancient amphoras, the ‘Daiza Planter’ is shaped from stoneware and finished with a glossy, understated glaze. Elevated on powder coated metal legs, and coming in four sizes, this modern interpretation of a classic design will look just as striking clustered together on a patio or terrace as well as used singularly in a conservatory or porch.
The ‘Plantas Planters’ however are entirely different. A celebration of curves and irregularity, their furrowed surface is made from matte ivory stoneware. Again available in a choice of four sizes, each piece is finished by hand and therefore entirely unique.
Plant Propagation
A set of two vases designed to propagate plant cuttings or sprout larger seeds, the ‘Cresco Propagation Vases’ let nature take centre stage. Easy to use and elegant to look at, the shapely glass vessels allow light to reach the growing roots while the concave, handmade ceramic lid supports the plant as it grows. Simply fill the glass vase with water, place the lid on top and let nature work its magic.
