While I may not have been at Stockholm Furniture Fair in person last week, I loved seeing Nordic brands I work with, as well as adore, showcasing their latest launches.
With so many amazing discoveries to share with you, I thought I’d start my SS23 round-up with a name I know you love as much as me, Danish design brand Kristina Dam.
While their Outline Collection may be understandably smaller than we’ve become accustomed to in recent years, it’s still mighty, and continues to celebrate Kristina Dam’s distinctive paired back, sculptural style.
Here’s more about five of my favourite SS23 pieces:
Axis Side Table
Designed by Omayra Maymó, a Spanish architect and designer based between Madrid and Copenhagen, the Axis Side Table gives the classic bar cart a contemporary twist.
I recently highlighted how this movable piece of furniture is a trend to lookout for in Simply Scandi magazine, with other Nordic brands including &Tradition, Northern and House Doctor all creating their own exciting interpretations.
Carefully crafted from oiled FSC-certified oak, and with its clean construction, the Axis Side Table shows off its materiality perfectly.
Outline Chair
Following last year’s launch of the Outline Desk, I was hoping a chair would soon follow and thankfully we haven’t had to wait too long.
Whether used in a home office, around a family dining table, or as a stand-alone piece in a bedroom or hallway (which is what I’d love to do), the oak Outline Chair, with its delicate walnut details, is sure to make a statement in any room.
Silhouette Illustration
If there’s one element of Kristina Dam’s work that I love, it has to be her artworks; and this season the series is joined by the limited-edition Silhouette Illustration.
Expressing the interactions between positive and negative spaces, these two new abstract pieces are printed on cardboard and framed in black aluminium frames and were produced at the Hans Knudsen Institute, a Danish organisation which aims to help people, whatever their age, ability, or circumstances into work.
Serif Vase
Taking the serif known in typography as its starting point, the mouth blown Serif Glass vase comes in two sizes.
With their subtle curves, these beautiful opal white vases look incredible either on their own or displayed as a pair, and thanks to their sculptural aesthetic, even when not filled with seasonal flowers they will still catch the eye.
Curved Pedestal
The Kristina Dam Curved series has quite rightly become one of the brand’s most recognisable designs; and what better way to complement these much-loved products than with the arrival of the new Curved Pedestal.
This timeless, stand-alone piece comes in both beige or black and, just like its sisters, is made of thin powder coated metal and includes storing frames within it so the separately sold boxes fit elegantly inside.
