A look inside the new Vipp Apartment

Over the years I’ve written a whole host of posts dedicated to Danish design brand Vipp. From dreamy new product launches, inspiring residential projects to their growing portfolio of guesthouses, but on this occasion it’s a must-visit space everyone can enjoy.

Located above their existing Copenhagen flagship store, in a beautiful building that dates back to 1906, the newly opened Vipp Apartment has been designed with daily life in mind. Spanning a generous 130 m2, this peaceful, light-filled gem unfolds before visitor’s eyes, giving them a glimpse into what the world of Vipp looks and feels like.

Bringing together furniture, kitchens, lighting, objects, and art, as part of one cohesive open-plan interior, the different functions of an ordinary home flow naturally together from living and dining, to bathing and working.

Decorated in a restrained palette of whites and beiges, and with a round Cabin table, paper pendent lamps and Chimney sofa creating a natural gathering point, what I personally love about the Vipp Apartment is how it enables visitors to take a deep dive into how different material choices can shape the atmosphere of a space too.

Firstly, there are two distinct kitchen concepts on display, a V2 kitchen island in a warm light oak and extruded aluminium positioned close to the entrance, before turning a corner to reveal an all-stainless-steel V4 kitchen, which takes a more architectural approach. The island then features a stainless-steel top, while the accompanying wall module is topped with marble, behind which, floor-to-ceiling cabinetry in a muted grey create a softer understated backdrop.

While over in the home office setting, focus is centred on Vipp’s new work desk and recently launched 455 swivel chair in a combination of walnut and dark green ‘Bosco’ leather, before entering the bathroom which pairs pale rose marble flooring and golden-brown wall tiles with a custom Vipp bathroom module in dark oak.

Considered by its creators as a complete home rather than just a showroom, the Vipp Apartment is intended to change gradually, shaped by the new designs, special editions, and prototypes that will find their place in here alongside the existing collection.

“We’ve never been interested in creating a showroom where everything stays exactly the same. Homes evolve, and so should this apartment. It’s a place we’ll continue to shape over time, through new products, art, and the people who visit it,” says Jette Egelund, 2nd generation Vipp-owner.
