You can guarantee that by the time our Christmas decorations are neatly packed away I will already have a head full of ideas on ways to improve and refresh our family home over the year ahead.
Some will be small and simple, some will involve a lot more thinking about, but to help us all find some new year Nordic inspiration I thought I’d start by sharing some kitchen ideas for 2022 from one of my favourite specialists, Nordiska Kök.
Each of Nordiska Kök’s considered designs are locally produced in their carpentry studio just outside Gothenburg and they always mix Scandinavian style with the most beautifully crafted materials. Built entirely from scratch and based on individual customer’s wishes and needs, their designs always give me a lot to think about.
So, if revamping your kitchen is currently at the top of your to-do-list, here are more details of their top five most requested kitchen designs:
Contrasting colour
Strong contrasts in colour, materials and finish will make your kitchen feel more personal and unique. If bold paint and pattern isn’t for you then try combining striking natural elements instead, such as a dark oak with a colourful marble. Together they are sure to create quite the impression.
Back to Nature
Our kitchens, even though one of the busiest rooms of the home are often seen as a place of sanctuary, and in 2022 colours such as olive green, burnt terracotta and eggshell are predicted to be very popular. Alternatively layering wood on wood will create a naturally calm space.
Spacious serenity
Restraint, space, and an understated colour palette will create a sense of serenity in your kitchen. Cabinets, along with their integrated appliances, almost disappear into the walls and by choosing a harmonious marble top this open plan kitchen seamlessly blends into the rest of the home beyond.
modern Shaker
If you prefer a more timeless and classic design then a Shaker style kitchen will always be a sure-fire winner. Thanks to its modern characteristics, well-thought-out elegant look, and colours that are light and luxurious this one from Nordiska Kök will truly stand the test of time.
Social
Our kitchens must now work harder than ever and must offer way more than just a place to make a cup of coffee. With a generously sized kitchen island you can also create an effortless home office, make-shift classroom as well as a place to meet with friends and family if staying home.
With so many incredible kitchen ideas for 2022 to choose from, which is your favourite?
