With the end of November now in sight I, and I’m sure many of you, are starting to plan for Christmas. And even though I won’t be putting my decorations up for another couple of weeks yet, it’s certainly time to get inspired.
As a writer for Nordic design and lifestyle magazines distributed around the world, I first had sight of this year’s Christmas collections back in July. Spending many happy hours poring over festive scenes and themes while sat at my desk in shorts and t-shirt, sipping a much-needed ice-cold drink.
So, it’s safe to say that the five I’ve chosen to share with you today are those that have stayed with me, those that made me long for winter to arrive and those I know you will love too.
Let me tell you more:
Ferm Living
Based around the theme of ‘Traditions of Togetherness’, this year’s Christmas collection from Ferm Living is packed full of favourites. I personally love the nostalgic feel of the Vela Star Ornaments, Treetopper and Stocking which are all made from natural, undyed GOTS-certified cotton canvas. Paired with the dip-dyed glass Marble Baubles they will certainly add a distinctive touch to your décor.
Broste Copenhagen
Taking their design references from the colours nature provides, Broste Copenhagen’s latest Christmas collection is full of warmth and comfort. Perfectly suited to sit alongside existing Yuletide pieces, as well as cherished handmade decorations, I may need to add some of their handmade glass Candy and Tear Ornaments to my mix of paper baubles and decorations this year.
Georg Jensen
Nothing gets me more excited for the festive season ahead than when Georg Jensen release details of their Christmas Collectables. Once again, this year they’ve teamed up with Danish designer Sanne Lund Traberg on a series of beautiful gold and silverplated ornaments. Themed around the elements of a winter forest, my favourites include a charming curled up mouse, a pretty pinecone and a very special sleeping deer.
Tine K Home
Elegant and timeless, Tine K Home Christmas decorations perfectly embody the paired-back spirit of the season I love. Meticulously crafted and designed to infuse your home with a touch of Scandinavian charm and sophistication I’m a huge fan of their intricate wreaths and cosy candle holders. Whether placed on a living room windowsill, kitchen counter or adorning your dining table, they will bring a smile to face year after year.
House Doctor
If you were to look inside my Christmas decorations box, some of my oldest and most-loved pieces are from House Doctor. Simple yet striking in style, my standout pieces this season are the Clip Treetopper and Star decorations. Both are handmade from intricately cut-out paper, so choose from a crisp white or natural brown finish to add a contemporary twist to a traditional favourite.
