If you’re still on the lookout for the perfect escape this summer then the latest guesthouse from Vipp is not to be missed. The twelfth destination in the Danish design brand’s growing portfolio, the Townhouse, Lagrasse blends history, hospitality and that home away from home feeling I love.
Dating back to the 1350s, and two years in the making, this inviting three-storey abode has been both considerately conserved by local architects, as well as carefully modernised by Vipp collaborator and interior designer Julie Cloos Mølsgaard.
Sitting proudly in a picturesque village square, and surrounded by winding medieval streets, ancient stone bridges and lush vineyards; for me it’s the contrast between the old-world southern France charm and the modern Nordic design details that makes Vipp Townhouse, Lagrasse really stand out.
Entering at ground level to a pebbled floor that continues from the cobbled street outside, and with warm white coloured walls inspired by the nearby Lagrasse Abbey, the welcoming living area that greets its guests sincerely respects its surroundings while showing off the Vipp Loft sofa and lounge furniture flawlessly.
Up a custom-designed staircase, crafted by a local metalsmith, Alejandro Berconsky, the first floor is anchored around a crisp anodised aluminium V3 kitchen island. On the one side there’s a dining area, featuring a round Vipp Cabin table and a special edition Vipp Swivel chair that’s been upholstered in a two-tone Pierre Frey fabric especially created for this property, and on the other access to a spacious terrace and private balcony.
Finally, on the top-floor, you’ll find a generous open-plan master bedroom and bathroom. With a bespoke bed facing the green shuttered windows to frame the views beyond; if that wasn’t enough, tucked into the back of the floor plan is a dramatic freestanding shower made from locally sourced red marble. In-between which there’s also a Vipp wall-hung bathroom basin vanity unit, a further Cabin table with a Lagrasse Swivel chair, along with floor-to-ceiling mirrors discreetly concealing an abundance of built-in storage.
To coincide with the launch of this incredible place Vipp has also recently released a collection of outdoor furniture appropriately named ‘Lagrasse’. Intended for smaller spaces, and comprising of a stackable dining chair, lounge chair, and a two-seater sofa, all have powder-coated aluminium frames which are then wrapped in woven cord enhancing their timeless expression and elegant everlasting appeal.
With a one-night stay starting at €449, find out more about the Vipp Townhouse, Lagrasse, by visiting the Vipp website.
