For today’s home tour, we are heading to the beautiful forever home of Malin Nilsson. You may already know her on Instagram as @vittvittvitt.
Located less than an hour’s drive from Malmo, just outside the city of Helsingborg in the coastal village of Råå, it’s certainly a part of southern Sweden I personally want to explore more of.
A self-confessed, interior decoration and gardening lover, Visual Merchandiser, Malin has created a home that many of us can only aspire to. With its calm colour palette, clutter-free style and cosy textures, I love how homely and welcoming the space feels without compromising on the realities of family life.
I recently chatted with Malin to find out more about the place she calls home, and what it’s really like to live there. Here’s what she had to tell me:
“Next summer it will be 20 years since my husband Ola and I moved into our home, and I love the place as much now as I did then.
Just like us, the house has changed a lot during this time. When we moved in, we painted all the walls white and completed a large upstairs renovation. This included new wooden floors, bathroom and more windows to brighten up the space.
Then, like it does for many couples, everything took a backseat when our first two children, Olle and Maja came along. There was certainly no time for renovations.
Then in 2012 we started a larger extension; the kitchen got bigger, we got a separate dining area and laundry room, as well as another bedroom as our family went from 4 to 5 with the arrival of Pelle.
Right now, we have no renovation plans, but with us all now spending more time at home maybe it’s time to refresh the big bathroom soon. That’s where we started 20 years ago, with a house it goes on and on.
Home is where my family is, and we love spending as much time outdoors together as possible. Living by the ocean is a gift we appreciate every day, as well as swimming in the sea we adore spending time in our garden. We always have a project or two on the go, and even on a dull day I always take a moment to appreciate it from the big windows in the dining area.”
THERE’S NO PLACE LIKE HOME
