For the latest issue of 91 Magazine, I was thrilled to write about a subject very close to my heart; how to create a timeless interior.
Instead of looking to the latest trends and fleeting fads, within the article I focused on how our homes should not only look good but make us feel good too. After all, any room that evolves alongside our needs and personal style will always transcend time, and thankfully I’m not the only one who feels this way.
In fact, it is an ethos also shared by Danish kitchen brand INVITA, who have recently celebrated their 50th anniversary with the launch of an exclusive design.
A tribute to 1974 and INVITA’s origins, the Anniversary Kitchen combines their heritage and their future. Based on a design idea called ‘block-thinking’, it brings together two very different expressions; the aesthetics, colours and shapes of the 1970s with today’s consumer need for different zones and feelings.
Designed to be both a modern work area, where functionality and storage takes centre stage, as well as dining space, defined by decorative tall wooden cabinets and open shelving, every detail in the Anniversary Kitchen has been carefully selected and expertly executed.
I personally love the new ‘Pistacie’ green colour they’ve used, which for me makes the perfect partner to the oak frame with its warm, yellow undertones, as well as bringing a softness to the cooler stainless-steel worktop.
The tiles chosen also match the kitchen tone-on-tone, while the handles, both on the cupboard doors and wooden drawers, emphasise the personality of the kitchen, with their oversized and rounded shapes creating that perfect balance between understated quality and a satisfying functionality.
With modern kitchens now well and truly established as the heart of our homes, a design centred around community and togetherness will always last for generations no matter what era its created.
