I don’t think it would come as much of a surprise if I told you that I’m a little obsessed with scented candles. No matter what the time of year, they are an essential part of my every day.
Let’s be honest; since becoming a Mum, nights spent relaxing in a bubble bath or reading a good book are over for now.
Once my little boy is happily tucked up in bed for the night however I turn the hygge dial in the Nordic Notes household up to max by filling our home with soft candlelight. For the remainder of the evening the soothing smell and gently dancing flames help me to leave the emotional stresses of a long day behind.
Finding that perfect candle however can be tough. The fragrances we choose become expressions of our individuality. Personally, I’m not a fan of sickly sweet florals and tend to steer towards softer, woody varieties.
Strong sense of identity
So when I recently heard about a new brand, Scent of Copenhagen, whose range of candles aspires to capture the atmosphere and lifestyle of my favourite city I just had to find out more.
Copenhagen is a city with a very strong sense of identity and five of the fragrances have been specially created to represent specific neighbourhoods. These include Nørrebro, Vesterbro, Osterbro, Kastellet and my personal favourite, Nyhavn, with its mix of sandalwood, ginger and warm vanilla.
I also received Golden Hour, part of their second Art of Time collection. This set of five scents draws upon the long history of apothecary traditions in Copenhagen and encompasses different moments of the day.
This particular candle was again ideal for me as it referenced fig, olive and cedar. Though given how terrible I am at sleeping I may need to try Blissful Dream or the lavender based Enchanted Evening next!
Beautifully packaged
All Scent of Copenhagen Candles are hand-poured, made from natural soy wax and come in a beautifully packaged reusable glass jar with a gorgeous pale wood lid. They also come in two handy sizes, 141 gram which equates to 30 hours burning time, or 212 gram which is around 45 hours.
One things for sure, no matter which Scent of Copenhagen candle you choose the feeling of hygge you create will forever conjure up happy memories and a feeling of home.

I’m just like you and can’t be without a good scented candle. I have my favourites, but love anything with ylang ylang and/or sandalwood. Beautiful post.
