Like many newlyweds, when my husband and I moved into our first home together we headed straight to IKEA with a long shopping list in hand. While the impulse bought plants, candles and cushions may be long gone, there are some much loved and hardworking pieces of furniture still to be found.
So, if your ‘METOD’ kitchen cabinets, ‘PAX’ wardrobes or ‘BESTÅ’ storage cupboards are in need of a little TLC, or you are on the lookout for yet another Lockdown project, then look no further than the new ‘Wood Collection’ from Superfront.
Based in Stockholm, but with shipping available to the UK and across the EU, Superfront provides alternative cupboard and drawer fronts, sides and tops, handles and legs for your new, or existing, IKEA cabinets so you can give every room in your home a customised and affordable Scandinavian look.
This beautiful new Wood Collection however is the first Superfront have made from FSC-certified ash veneers and comes in six different colours as well as two distinct styles.
With a feel of solid wood, the ‘Plain’ style is completely smooth with the rich natural grain providing the focus, while the ‘Vertical’ has a grooved design which looks like ribbed slat panelling.
The ‘Biscotti’ natural wood or ‘Alabaster’ whitened treated wood would fit perfectly in my home. There is also the gorgeous smoky ‘Umber Wood’ finish, two grey tones called ‘Thunder’ and ‘Cloudy’, and a lush ‘Willow’ green which are all finished with a UV-resistant lacquer to ensure they last as long as you need them.
And when you have made a final decision on colour and style there are a series of complementary handles to choose from too.
The long wooden ‘Bar’ handles, with their clean design and simple shape, are the perfect accompaniment. Again, made from solid ash, they come in the same range of colours and lengths to perfectly fit everything from the smallest bathroom drawer through to the tallest wardrobe door.
Prices start at £29, with colour samples available to order from £2.
