With Father’s Day fast approaching, if you’re anything like me, you’re currently on the lookout for the perfect way to say a huge thank you to the men in your life.
In the UK Father’s Day always falls on the third Sunday of June, but across the globe, including the Nordic countries, it is celebrated at very different times of the year. In Sweden, Finland and Norway for example it’s always in November, while in Denmark it was earlier this week, June 5th, to coincide with Constitution Day.
The two events combined back in 1935. It was also on this date in 1915 that Danish women were given the vote.
Unfortunately for my husband it isn’t tradition here (yet) to spend the day listening to political speeches on the state of the government, but it is a day for my little boy and I to show him, along with Grandad and Grandpa, just how much we love and appreciate them.
Add some Nordic notes to his life
So to help all my fellow Nordic design lovers I’ve put together a little gift guide, some are classics that will last a lifetime, others will add a touch of hygge to their everyday.

Some great finds here. I love the slippers.
Can’t recommend them enough Stacey. I bought my first pair in Stockholm and get a new pair for Christmas every year x
have to say, if I bought my hubby these slippers, it would be so I could wear them too a bit 🙂 nah, they would be too big for me, but certainly they look great. Which reminds me, need to put the date on the calendar before I forget!
Mine are super comfy, especially after a day in heels!
What lovely gifts – love the speaker in particular!
Thanks Natalia, I think I need to start saving up for one myself!
Some really lovely ideas – what a great selection!
Thanks Abi, I could have gone on and on!

They do! His, hers and mini’s, I wouldn’t be without mine x
I struggle every year with Fathers Day gift ideas so it’s great to see some great ideas. I like the Vifa Reykjavik Speaker 😀
Glad you liked the post Maria, I wouldn’t mind that speaker as a gift myself!

Thanks Sam, so glad you’ve found the post inspiring.
What a lovely selection of gift ideas. I think “Food by the fire” looks great!!
Totally recommend it, we’ve enjoyed a number of the recipes in it now.
a lovely selection here. I’d already ordered my son’s fathers day present and rather unhelpfully he took delivery of it from the postman while I was away. ?
Thanks Mary, hope the surprise wasn’t spoiled too much!
