For today’s home-tour I’m heading to the East of England and the city of St Albans to find out what home means to interior designer, Katie Seidler, who is known to thousands online as ‘Hello Haus’.
A lot has changed since I first chatted with Katie back in 2019 about her Nordic style inspirations. Since then, we have both taken our long-standing passion for all things Scandinavian and made them into our professions, with Katie now working with clients nationally online as well as on-site across Hertfordshire and London.
So, when she very kindly agreed to catch up again and share more about how she has created her own considered, calming, and timeless space I couldn’t wait to find out more.
Over to Katie to pick up the story:
“My husband and I, along with our French bulldog Henry, have lived in our current home for the last five years. At first, I wasn’t convinced it was the one, but my husband persuaded me to go back for a second, and then a third viewing.
As soon as I started to visualise what the house could become and how good it’s “bones” where I was soon won over.
Since moving in it’s mainly been cosmetic changes we’ve made because the house and its layout really work for us, but the biggest work is yet to come with an en-suite renovation happening this month, and hopefully a bigger kitchen project next year.
My favourite part of the house by far is the living room. It’s open plan and feels like the heart of the home. Whether one of us is cooking or the other watching TV we can still be sociable. I love it especially in the winter when we light the wood burner and the three of us hunker down on our super soft Hay ‘Mags’ sofa.
Though when it comes my absolute favourite piece of furniture it has to be our large dining table. We have owned it for years and I can’t see us changing it anytime soon. It’s a classic, timeless shape, made from solid wood and minimal in its design, everything I love! We have created so many happy memories with our friends and family around it that I will treasure forever.
With both my husband and I living such hectic lives and juggling busy schedules our home really is a very special place and where I can rest, recharge, and feel settled.”
There’s No Place like Home
