This year one of my favourite Danish design companies, Normann Copenhagen celebrates its 20-year-anniversary.
Over the past two decades, the brand and its style have become so instantly recognised for simple and contemporary furniture, that no matter what the current trend, they stand the test of time.
That’s why I was super excited to pop back to their showroom in Østerbro recently to find out more about their latest products.
First seen at Milan Design Week and then 3 Days of Design, the Normann Copenhagen Autumn Winter 2019 collection focuses on what they first become known for: small accessories and textiles.
With so many exciting new pieces to choose from, I wanted to share more about my personal top picks:
Pepo Jar
I’m a huge fan of sculptural ceramics so instantly fell in love with the gorgeous Pepo jars.
With their quirky organic shape and contrasting mat and glossy glazing these pieces make a bold statement.
Used as storage jars or vases, plus available in pretty shades of soft rose, powder grey, dusty blue and pure black; whether on their own or in complimentary pairs these powerful porcelain pieces would look amazing in any room.
Tombola Vase
Another dramatic new addition was the chunky Tombola vases.
Personally they reminded me of a number of historic glass pieces I saw at the Nordic Craft and Design exhibition at Manchester Art Gallery; a total must see if you haven’t already visited.
The surface structure of these mouth-blown vases was created when eight abstract shapes were combined in a random order. The reliefs created, gave these purple, caramel, orange or blue glass beauties real drama as the light bounced off their surfaces in the sunny showroom
Snooze Bed Linen
If you like to have a little fun in the bedroom, but don’t want to compromise on quality, then the fantastic Snooze bed linen range is for you.
Made from a soft, crisp cotton there are five different sets to choose from, each in a different colour and embroidered with different symbols to represent a specific bedtime mood.
My favourite was ‘Lazy Mornings’ with its croissants and coffee motif. But there is also Deep Sleep, Sassy Chic, Feel Better and Happy Hangover too.
Papa Throw Blanket
If you’re looking to add some extra Nordic hygge to your home this season, then the super soft Papa blanket may be worth investing in.
A modern twist on a traditional tartan design and made from a blend of merino and lambswool, there are two oversized patterns in four fashionable colour combinations.
My eyes were instantly drawn to the dark blue and pale yellow check, as it would look perfect on my bed or sofa at home.
Obi Tableware
The distinctive Obi porcelain cups, with their silicone belts have already become a Normann Copenhagen classic, and from Autumn Winter 2019 they’ll now be joined by bowls and deep plates too.
Perfect for the breakfast table, soups, salads and snacks, choose between sand, grey, warm blush or light blue, or mix up the colours to cheer up your everyday dinnerware.
All items will be available from September, to find out more, visit the Normann Copenhagen website.
